Trash Bin Screening – UPDATE

This is an update to the previous notification letter that has been handed out to many of our local property and business owners concerning trash bin/dumpster enclosures. (Included below)

During the Warrenton Board of Alderman meeting, held on 09/01/2009, the agenda included discussion concerning trash bin/dumpster enclosures, and the concerns conveyed to them by their constituents, including, but not limited to, the cost of construction in a poor economy, size and/or area limitations due to location and property lines, and the Board of Alderman concluded that a more lenient time period should be observed, before the code enforcement commences, in order to be fair and offer our resident property and business owners more time to be able to accomplish the requirements of the code. Therefore applicable property owners required to enclose their trash bin/dumpster will be given until October first 2010 (10/01/2010) to comply with the municipal code.*

*Please note that any trash area that is a nuisance shall be addressed by the City of Warrenton.

NOTICE (original)

The City of Warrenton’s Building Department would like to inform it’s residents and property owners that the Warrenton Municipal Code, 405.265, G-Screening Requirements, paragraph #2, Trash bin screening, will be enforced in the near future.

Trash bin screening.
All multi-family residential projects, mobile home parks and all commercial, office and industrial projects shall include on the landscape plan a detailed drawing of enclosure and screening methods to be used in connection with trash bins on the property. No trash bin shall be visible from off the property and a permanent screen fence or wall enclosure shall be provided for each such bin. Such permanent screen fence shall be a minimum of six (6) feet high, three (3) sided, completely enclosed and shall not be chain link.

We have received numerous complaints concerning trash dumpsters that are not screened/enclosed and we plan to address this issue as early as mid-July. This notice is in advance so that anyone with commercial property or multi-family residential complex with exposed trash bins may address their trash areas in advance. Call 636-456-3535 if you have any questions.

Thank you very much.
