The Finance Department is responsible for financial planning, administration and coordination of all financial functions for the City of Warrenton. Accounting services are provided for all City Departments in accordance with City Ordinance and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Citywide financial statements are prepared and presented to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on a monthly basis. Of primary importance is the management of internal control systems to ensure the safety of funds and accuracy of the financial reports.
Other accounting functions include annual budget preparation, investments, utility billing, accounts payable, payroll, property accounting, cash payments, and business licenses.
Payments: Payments for all City Services can be made at City Hall located at 200 West Booneslick. A drive-up drop box is available by entering the parking lot on the west side of City Hall or the walk-up drop box on the east side of the building.
Accounts Payable: Accounts Payable processes invoices from all of the City’s departments. Invoices are approved by the Board of Aldermen on the 1st Tuesday of each month and checks are issued prior to the 10th day of the month.
VENDORS-TO HELP INSURE TIMELY PAYMENT OF INVOICES, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES:
-All Vendors who choose to do Business with the City of Warrenton will be required to complete a W-9 Request for Taxpayers Identification Form, which is required by the Internal Revenue Service to meet IRS filing regulations.

Utility Billing: Responsible for billing water, sewer, trash, and recycling monthly; sets up new customer accounts; and answers billing questions. Utility billing also handles the transfer of existing customer accounts to new addresses, delinquent accounts and disconnects. Payments are due by the 15th of each month.

The in-city residential water rates are $5.68 for the first 1,000 gallons and $3.66 for each 1,000 gallons of consumption thereafter. The sewer rates are $9.28 for the first 1,000 gallons and $3.21 for each additional 1,000 gallons of consumption.

Local Taxes: Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes: Real Estate and Personal Property taxes for the city are collected by the Warren County Collector. These taxes are due December 31 of each year. For more information contact the Warren County Collector at 636-456-3330.
2012 Tax Rate upon real and personal property $.2852 on each $100.00 assessed valuation for general municipal purposes and $.1689 on each $100 of assessed valuation for establishment and maintenance of free public parks within the City.
Sales Taxes: The local sales tax rate is 7.975%. The city portion is 1.75%, county is 2.0% and state is 4.225%.
Miscellaneous Billing: Includes false alarms, NID assessments, resource police officer, crossing guards, and industrial sewer. Payments for Miscellaneous billing are due by the 15th of each month.
