Greg Houdyshell, Warrenton Police Chief

Greg Houdyshell – Chief of Police

The Warrenton Police Department is staffed by 22 professional men and women. Their mission is to create a safe environment for residents and visitors of Warrenton to live, work and play. This mission is accomplished through rigorous enforcement of Municipal, State and Federal laws. More importantly, though, the Department’s officers endeavor to involve the community in the law enforcement function. Officers are encouraged to make personal, positive, contact with citizens and visitors whenever it is feasible. Building and maintaining relationships within the community is the key to success for the Warrenton Police Department.

In addition to basic patrol functions the Police Department also provides three school resource officers to the Warren County R-III School District. These officers are responsible for law enforcement within the schools of the district. They also teach safety awareness classes to students and staff. Our Criminal Investigation Division is staffed by two detectives. The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for conducting investigations into serious crimes committed within the City of Warrenton. The detectives successfully cleared nearly 80% of their assigned cases in 2009.

The Warrenton Police Department is constantly looking at new ways to improve law enforcement in our community. Your suggestions and comments are always welcomed.
