Board of Alderman
The City of Warrenton has a Council-Administrator form of government as set forth in Chapter 79 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. The Board of Aldermen is comprised of six members, two from each of the three wards. Board members serve staggered two-year terms and are responsible for determining policy, enacting ordinances and authorizing expenditures.

The Mayor is elected at-large for a two-year term. The responsibilities of the Mayor include serving as the chief executive officer of the City, attending and presiding over Board of Aldermen meetings, veto powers over legislation and appointing members of various Boards and Commissions.

Mayor Qualifications: 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City at the time of and for at least one (1) year next preceding his/her election and qualified voter under the laws and Constitution of the State of Missouri and the City of Warrenton. Serves 2 year term
Board of Alderman Qualifications: 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the City for at least one (1) year next preceding the election, a resident of the Ward from which he seeks election; and a qualified voter under the laws and Constitution of the State of Missouri and the City of Warrenton.
