City of Warrenton Liquor License Information and Requirements

All liquor license applications must be completed in full, require all listed documents and fees when submitting the application to the city.

Located on the application is a check list of all the required documents for your convenience. All persons, partnership, officers, shareholders, directors and managing officer are required to submit the criminal background check authorization form. Please include the $15.55 background check processing fee for each authorization form in addition to the liquor license fee.

Liquor license applications are submitted to the city’s Board of Aldermen for consideration at the regularly scheduled meetings.

Upon approval of the application, all annual liquor licenses expire on June 30th. A separate license shall be required for each place of business. Please contact City Hall if requesting a liquor license after July 1st.

Below is a listing of the City liquor license descriptions. This listing is to help determine which license is best for your business.

ORIGINAL PACKAGE LIQUOR – For the sale of intoxication liquor in the original package not to be consumed on the premises where sold.

LIQUOR BY THE DRINK – For the sale of intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises.

TEMPORARY LIQUOR BY THE DRINK – CATERER – Temporary permit to caterers and other persons holding licenses to sell intoxicating liquor by the drink at retail for consumption on the premises who furnish provisions and service for use at a particular function, occasion or event at a particular location other than the licensed premises. The temporary permit shall be effective for a period not to exceed one hundred sixty-eight consecutive hours during the hours at which alcoholic beverages may be sold.

TEMPORARY LIQUOR BY THE DRINK – PICNIC – A permit for the sale of intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises where sold may be issued to any church, school, civic, service, fraternal, veteran, political or charitable club or organization for the sale of intoxicating liquor at a picnic, bazaar, fair, or similar gathering.

MISSOURI WINE BY THE DRINK – The sale of intoxicating liquor by the drink at retail for consumption on the premises where sold, but seventy-five percent or more of the intoxicating liquor sold by the licensed person shall be Missouri produced wines received from manufacturers licensed to include Sunday Sales.

CONSUMPTION OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR – For the consumption of intoxicating liquor on the premises where food, beverages or entertainment are sold or provide for compensation, and which said establishment does not possess an intoxicating liquor license for the sale of intoxicating liquor.

5% WHOLESALE LIQUOR SOLICITOR – For the privilege of selling intoxicating liquor containing not in excess of five percent (5%) of alcohol by weight by a wholesaler to a person duly licensed to sell such malt liquor at retail.

Definitions:

  • Malt Liquor – Not to contain in excess of fourteen percent alcohol by weight.
  • Wine – Made exclusively from grapes, berries and other fruits and vegetables.
  • Intoxicating Liquor – Fermented, malt, or other liquors, or combination of liquors, as part of which is spirituous, vinous, or fermented, and all preparations or mixtures for beverage purposes, containing in excess of one-half of one percent by volume.
  • Missouri Wine – Seventy-five percent or more shall be Missouri produced wines.
  • Consumption of Liquor – For the consumption of intoxicating liquor on the premises where food, beverages or entertainment are provided for compensation, which said establishment does not possess an intoxicating liquor license for the sale of intoxicating liquor.
  • 5% Malt Liquor Wholesale – The selling of intoxicating liquor not in excess of five percent (5) of alcohol by weight by a wholesaler.

State & County Liquor Licenses

Businesses must acquire a City of Warrenton Liquor License before applying for a Missouri State Liquor License.

Warren County Liquor License – A Missouri State Liquor License is required before applying for a Warren County Liquor License. Applications are available at the Warren County Administration building located at 101 Mockingbird Lane or contact 636-456-3331.
