As a precautionary measure to help prevent exposure and the spread of COVID-19, the Board of Alderman of the City of Warrenton is adjusting the format of their meetings.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Alderman of the City of Warrenton, Missouri, will conduct meetings by video-conference or conference call until further notice.  The Board Chambers at City Hall will not be open to the public.

There will be no Open Forum during these, Board of Alderman meetings.  In lieu of an Open Forum, the public is invited to submit written comments via email to mrugh@warrenton-mo.org.  Such public comments will be read during the meeting and made a part of the official record of the meeting.   

Alderman and City staff will participate in this meeting via the phone or video-conference.

 The City apologizes for any inconvenience the meeting format change may pose to individuals but it is extremely important that extra measures be taken to protect employees, residents, and elected officials during these challenging times.


Board of Alderman

The City of Warrenton has a Council-Administrator form of government as set forth in Chapter 79 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. The Board of Aldermen is comprised of six members, two from each of the three wards. Board members serve staggered two-year terms and are responsible for determining policy, enacting ordinances and authorizing expenditures.

The Mayor is elected at-large for a two-year term. The responsibilities of the Mayor include serving as the chief executive officer of the City, attending and presiding over Board of Aldermen meetings, veto powers over legislation and appointing members of various Boards and Commissions.

  • 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month

Board of Alderman meetings are broadcasted on the City of Warrenton access channel (Charter Cable channel 993) at 10:00am, 4:00pm, 10:00pm, and 4:00am.

Mayor Qualifications: 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City at the time of and for at least one (1) year next preceding his/her election and qualified voter under the laws and Constitution of the State of Missouri and the City of Warrenton.
Serves 2 year term

Board of Alderman Qualifications: 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the City for at least one (1) year next preceding the election, a resident of the Ward from which he seeks election; and a qualified voter under the laws and Constitution of the State of Missouri and the City of Warrenton.
Serves 2 year term
