RESOLUTION NO. 261

RESOLUTION AMENDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE TOURISM COMMISSION

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 235 adopted the initial Advisory Committee of the Tourism Commission in March 15, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Section 67.1364 of Chapter 67 of the Missouri Revised Statutes establishes qualifications for appointment and members of a Tourism Commission; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Warrenton at their meeting of November 21, 2006 authorized repeal of Resolution No. 235 and replacing with the adoption of Resolution No. 261.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WARRENTON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I. The members of the Tourism Commission shall be five (5) in number and be composed of A. A resident of the City who represents the hotel and motel industry of the City; B. Two residents of the City who are active in the tourism industry in the City; C. Two residents who are members of the local general business interest in the City.

SECTION II. There shall be a member of the City government to serve as a liaison between the Board of Aldermen and the Tourism Commission who shall serve in a non-voting capacity.

SECTION III. Members of the Tourism Commission will be appointed for a term of three (3) years. Of the members first appointed one shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year, two (2) shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years and two (2) shall be appointeed for a term of three (3) years. Members of the Tourism Commission may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms.

SECTION IV. Members of the Tourism Commission will serve without compensation.

SECTION V. The Mayor of the City shall call for the time and place of the first meeting of the Tourism Commission. The Tourism Commission shall elect a chairman of the membership during its first meeting.

SECTION VI. The Tourism Commission shall submit a budget to the Board of Aldermen for approval of the expenditures of the revenue received from the tax. Expenditures from the fund shall be for the sole use of promoting tourism within the City.
